Tjuvholmen, the city district which was once home to criminals and shady dealings is now a power center for contemporary art and good city living at the water's edge. The booming art district of Oslo has within the last few years exploded with both indoors galleries and outdoors sculpture parks with artists like Damien Hirst, Anish Kapoor, Antony Gormley, Louise Bourgeois, Marina Abramovic and Bjarne Melgaard. At the tip overlooking the beautiful fjords is the Astrup Fearnley Museum, which houses the most extensive contemporary art collection in the northern Europe. Tjuvholmen is one of the UNCONTAMINATED festival's locations.
